Website Template - (Heading 1)

Top Virtual Include
This will show on every page that uses the include. You could use it for what you want e.g. an ad, a notice, or leave it blank and it won't show at all. You can change the shape, size, background color, put a border around it or put it on the left or the right side of the page or across the top. It's very versatile.

This page shows the template developed in the template tutorial at building-a-website.com. The only difference is the extra text that I have added here as an explanation.

About This Template - (Heading 2)

This is a two column template. It could be made into a three column template by adding one more column and changing the column widths slightly. If you follow the tutorial you would have no problem doing that.

The page is laid out with HTML tables because that is easier for a newbie than to try to lay everything out with CSS.

The styling is done with CSS to make site wide changes quick and easy.

The navbar, header and footer are in virtual includes to make updating them quick and easy.

There is also a virtual include at the top of the page so a notice or ad can easily be placed site wide. If you don't want to use it you can just leave the include file as a blank file, but if you need a notice on every page (e.g. "5 day sale, 20% of everything") it's easy to put in because everything is in place.

It's Not A Styling Exercise

The header and styling in this example are not beautiful. It's up to you to style the page to suit your site. It's easy to do, and it's all explained in the template tutorial.
